Bye!

As I already said, I'm not a good blogger... but I maybe find out why. I would like to write all those articles and how awesome it WAS. But by saying WAS means It's not gonna be anymore. I have to go back to my life and it feels weird. I have to get back to school like nothing happened.  And so I guess that's why I'm saving these moments for later, to sit, see the photos, remember all the jokes once again and make the article later. I need to, I want to save all these moments and blog is one of the best options.  Tomorrow, I'm leaving. On a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again. Probably never. But you never know... year ago I would never imagine that I'll spent three months in UAE. Come on I'm one of the poorest student's I know how could I possibly afford that?! But I managed mainly thanks to my parents... And I had such a good time. We had some problems and mainly with IAESTE but we managed to help ourselves and by that we ove...

Burj Khalifa & Dubai aquarium video!

Finally I managed to get all my stuff together, sit for three hours and just finish another video. It's 1 a.m. I'm really tired but again happy that I made it. These are my last days, I have so much to write about but I'm just enjoying the last moments of "summer" here. Winter is coming.

50 beers and Burj Khalifa

I finally manage to get to see Burj Khalifa. And it was monumental. I think so far my favourite place in Dubai.  I know it’s just a building – of course but there is no building higher! This gigantic colossus have 828 meters. There is Armani hotel, luxury apartments, swimming pool on 78th floor and finally viewing deck on 124th floor with access to the 125th floor. There is so much to say about the building itself, because till the end nobody knew the exact heigh. The shape of the building is supposed to look like a flower from the top. The air condition and plumbing systems themselfs are just remarkable and don’t let me start with window cleaning. It tooks 4 months to clean whole building!!! But let’s get to our visit. It was me, Cvija, Nici and Mert. We entered Burj Khalifa through Dubai Mall. We had to go through security check and scan of our things (again…) before we got to the line for elevators. It was super scary! The elevators are dark (on purpose) and you can fee...

I’m very bad blogger…

Really, I can’t even focus on one event. I did so many things that I need to make separate post about. For example: desert sleepover, Burj Chalifa, Dubaj Aquarium or museum of Islamic civilisation. But I’m too slow… And I hope that I can write them this week…  But I have also so many things not conected to anything! And for them I made this post. For example – It was raining! And come on! Rain in UAE thats something! I went outside and made a video and just enjoyed the fresh air. It was amazing. We also had IAESTE International day where we presented our work here on posters, together with outgoing students presenting their work abroad. So we finally had the chance to meet them – and find out that they really exists :-D. And these guys are really trying to make the rest of our internship memorable. We went on a dinner and the planning was a bit rough and basically… there was no planning at all :-D. I left my apartement at 5 p.m., get in the car, go somewhere else, waited ...

Less then a month...

...27 days. That's not much. I was looking forward for this. But now – my research is not complete yet, my results are bad, i haven’t seen everything and the worst – I’m realizing that I'm gonna miss these people! Our apartment 204 is just amazing group of crazy girls. I’m gonna miss watching RuPaul’s Drag Race with Rokhaya. I’m gonna miss Buse’s ice cream boy and her squeaky shoes! I’m gonna miss Cvija’s cute smile waiting for the perfect photos on Instagram. Together we are the perfect match. We talk, we travel, we enjoy. Living the „life of our time!“ I’m really gonna miss these girls. I love Terka and Barča back home. But we are sort of living our separate lives. Here we were locked in one place for three months – that’s how you create a bond. I just hope that we won’t stop communication after we come back to our home countries. This is basicaly the reason I’m really greatful for this internship – these girls. Not the counry. Not the research. Not the activities. *C...

How we tried to kill each other

We got home today. Normal long and boring day. Rokhy went straight to bed, I was hungry so I started preparing myself a nice hot meal. I was really looking forward to it, I was really hungry! I was even happy that I'm finally home! But then... Something happened... My problem is that I don't actually remember what happened. :-D In my point of view, Rokhy sneaked to the kitchen and scaret the shit out of me. But according to Rokhaya it went something like this: "So I was laying in the bed but I realized that I'm hungry and I got up and went to the kitchen. I wanted to say something but then Anet turned, her eyes almost fell out of her face and without any sound she started waving her hands towards me like she want to atack me and I was like - what the hell girl! Is she crazy or what? What happened!! And after few seconds I realized that I might scare her... But then I started laughing because her face!!! That was hillarious!! Her eyes!!! And the hands waving!!!!...

Jumble, Rumble, Crumble

What is Jumble? Jumble is the maze with escape rooms. From crazy dance tasks, through logical puzzles to physically demanding, for me absolutely impossible tasks. The whole game is about entering the the first room, finish it and enter the following one. The lowest possible number is 2 rooms, the largest 6. When you don't finish any room, you have to go back to the first one. Our team consisted of our apartment (Me, Buse, Cvija and Rokhaya), Nicol and Asamti. We got him into our team for one reason, he's a guy. And it was clear that he would be useful for us. We named our team Tiger and his kittens, because Asamti means a tiger and we are the cute kittens. Although Asamti slept for only 2 hours, I think he was forced to wake up right in the first room. His job was to hold 30s on 2 of 12 bars but he had to find which first. After the sixth attempt, we got to the second room. On Asamti's defense - he held himself, the problem was where, how and for how long. That poor man...

Nobody knows Czech Republic

It's really expected, that everyone asks me where am I from. Embarrassing moments come when I tell the truth. Today's taxi driver's response totally surprised me. "Well, I meant like from which country..." So I tried to explain him that it is a country in Central Europe and that many people here know it more like Czechoslovakia. Which is true, most people don't know anything about the division, at that time they had their own problems, and history classes don't really teach them about the Czech Republic. "I've never heard of it, are you near some famous country?" !!!!!!!! "Maybe Germany?" "I know Germany! My cousin has moved there!" You know, I'm very bad in geography and above that i live with Terka who says that Banat is a cheap copy of Venice (in czech Benátky - you see some similarity). But with most of the countries I know that they really are countries and usualy I can assign their continent....

Desert Safari

We were in the desert! But it started a little differently. We sat with the girls in the living room looking at the groupon offers. We found an event promising luxury desert safari with dinner for just 71 AED per person. We liked it, so we bought the voucher. But we used it 14 days later, because we were waiting for slightly milder weather. From our little trip, a mass event for 15 people became in the last week. The bus picked us up at the apartments and drove us away from the city, where giant cars for eight people were waiting for us. They literally shattered our souls in the sand dunes, I hit my head a few times over the ceiling. The cars brought us somewhere in the desert to a strange-looking resort. Then came a slightly more sad part of the trip - all activities will start at seven in the evening. It was half past four. Nevermind. So we try sandboarding, ie snowboarding on the sand dune. Heh... no... it was more of a manual shift on the sand. Oh look! They have the cam...

Jebel Jais II. and Dreamland aquapark

I didn't even make the video from the first trip to Jebel Jais yet and I was there for the second time. Disappointment for the excited ones - I still wasn't on the ZipLine, but it was definitely worth it! On Wednesday there was a conversation about a couple of people who were planing camping on Jebel Jais. I wanted some rest and so I said I didn't want to go. In addition, the trip was about to end in the aquapark, which I wasn't really interested in. But on Thursday I was still thinking about it, I told myself, you have nothing on Friday and you have only a plan on Saturday for the afternoon, so why not going. So I went. We set off late, because a lot of people were at work, so we didn't see the sunset. But what did we do? Marshmallown roasting, singing and dancing show by our Arab colleagues, singing with a guitar until four in the morning, watching the beautiful night sky along with shooting stars (cliché), early wake up to see the sunrise, scary hiking to t...

First subscriber!

I have my first subscriber and it my dearest flatmate Cvija from Bosnia and Herzegovina! I would like to thank her because i thought that my first subscriber would be my mom. Should I translate my posts to serbian? Not really... *CZECH* První odběratel! Mám prvního odběratele a je to moje nejdražší spolubydlící Cvija z Bosny a Hercegoviny! Chtěla bych jí tímto moc poděkovat, protože jsem si myslela, že první odběratel bude moje mamka. Měla bych překládat své příspěvky i do srbštiny? Spíš ne...

Month in the Emirates

So I'm here for a month now. Month in the Emirates. Month in Sharjah. I met people from all over the world. I visited 6 out of 7 Emirates. I was in the biggest mosque in the world. I was at the highest point of the Emirates. I saw biggest gold ring in the world. I begin to get used to the local mentality. In spite of all the experiences, smiles, plenty of good food, and sunshine every day, I still miss everything. I miss the smell of the forest, or just the ordinary scent of grass. Don't let me start with the flowers. I miss the cold weather, or at least any temperature changes.  I miss Czech dairy products and mainly Czech prices. I miss the opportunity to drink tap water. I miss the Prague public transport and the Czech Railways, although I always curse them, they have still many advatages. I miss beer, wine, rum, jägr... but I just miss the opportunity to go somewhere with my friends. I miss my (not always) perfect roommates. I miss my classmates and the other b...

How was I looking for a selfie stick

Why? Because last week I took my camera to the beach again. I keep it in protective waterproof case on selfie stick. I photographed a couple of sunsets, Eric's butt, and I made beautiful shots in the water that will surely appear in a summary video. When I tried to find something in my bag, my sunscreen unscrewed and spilled all over my things. Which caused the oiling of the stick and camera that I went rinse immediately. Still no problem. But on the way to the car, I took the camera out of my bag because I wanted to take a picture of something and my dear camera in the case went off with the whole head of the selfie stick. The selfie stick was lost. I didn't notice anything on the camera, it fell into the sand so I didn't expect a big problem. I put the camera in my bag in the trunk of the car in good believe - so nothing happened to it. At home, after pulling out of my bag, I found the case irreversibly in two pieces. I said to myself good, the camera is ok, I s...

Trip to the east coast of UAE

At the weekend we decided to make a bigger trip. Trip to the east coast to the neighboring Emirate of Fujairah. Decided is not the right word, one intern wrote to our group that he want to rent a car for the weekend and go out and me and the girls decided to join. Unfortunately, at that moment he had only one remaining place in the car, so he suggested that we borrow the car ourselves. Neither of us wants to drive here, because everyone here drives very freely and nobody cares about the rules. Except parking, they will gladly give you a fine at any time for that, and besides - none of us have an international driver, which nobody cares about they say - but who knows. So we wrote down if any of the boys were willing to rent and drive the second car. He was. So we could go! The meeting was scheduled for 8:30 at our house. At 8:45, guys wrote that they had some problems with the car rental and that it would take them about half an hour. At 10:00 they finally found our apartmen...
